Can I get email for club events?

In the early days of the Chicago MINI Motoring Club (way back last year) we often sent out email notifications of upcoming club events.

We have been moving towards less notification via email, and instead relying on posting information here on our site. This is due to a number of reasons including worries about spam, email viruses, and the difficulty of maintaining an ever growing list of addresses.

There are many among us who would still prefer to be notified of events via email, and would rather not have to check this site every day for fear of missing a cool event

I would like to offer up a couple of options to make it easier to keep up with events.

1) Subscribe to our Club Forum Just hit that CLUB FORUMS link over on the top right part of the screen. If you have a North American Motoring account (free registration) you can then subscribe to our club forum and recieve an email message whenever there are new posts. We will cross post our events so you will get an email when event details are out

2) Set up an XML RSS news feed This is software/freeware that you download to your PC and will enable you to get the headlines of all our new posts without having to directly visit our site. If the post looks interesting, a quick click on the link will take you to the post of your choice. There is information Here on how to set things up (or ask for help).

I hope these options give people enough choices to get club information in the way they would prefer.

  1. If anyone out there wants to take charge I think I speak for the rest of the board by saying we'd be all for it. We'd need someone willing to create an email on a monthly basis (or less) from the content on this website. We'd also need this person to manage the addresses of the club members effectively for these emails.
