Update: 08/16/2006:
Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Motor like you’ve never motored before! It’s just you and 500 of your closet MINI friends and family, motoring around the famous Indianapolis Speedway. Join us for a parade lap and get your photo taken as you pass the famous yard
of bricks. Enjoy snacks and refreshments, all courtesy of Sports Illustrated. A $10.00 donation to a local Indianapolis charity will be collected in order to participate in the parade lap. Museum tours and access, as well as ground tours are available on a first come first
some basis for $3.00 per person. Plan to join us from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an afternoon of speed and excitement.
*The Speedway is located at 4790 West 16th Street on the west side of Indianapolis; just minutes from Indianapolis Airport. Take I-465; Exit 16A, Crawford Rd. head east approximately 1.5 miles; the Speedway is located on the north east corner of Crawford and Georgetown roads. Use Main Gate #2 to enter the speedway. Speedway staff will direct you to the RV parking lot to register for the track lap.
MINIUSA will be organizing a Cross Country Drive called MINI Takes the States (MTTS) to celebrate the arrival of the JCW Cooper S GP kit.
Patrick MINI, in conjunction with Chicago MINI Motoring Club – will be conducting a drive from South Holland Oasis near the Illinois-Indiana border and join the celebration in Indianapolis.
WHERE: We will meet at the South Holland Oasis
WHEN: Wednesday August 30th. We will hit the road at 9:30 am (Chicago time), and plan to get to Indy before 2pm (we will be going non-stop).
WHO: Anyone can join in, but you must already be registered to participate in the festivities.
Some suggested key points (from Patrick MINI):

Make check’s payable to: Children’s Memorial Foundation – Duke’s Fund (or put somewhere on the check that it is to be applied to Duke’s Fund).
Check out This Post for additional information.
Here is the Chicago forum information for people driving the leg from St. Louis to Indy.
How does it work if I want to join the drive down to Indy, but did not sign up for MTTS b/c I just picked my new MC two weeks ago?
After all the fun I had at the Ad Agency drive I REALLY want to join the MINI motoring fun. Am I just going to miss out of the fun events if I drive down?
For those that don’t have a writsband for the event and want to attend, you may be able to find someone who signed up but is unable to make it, and get or borrow the wristband from them (catch and release program)..
Any Chicago area people with extra bands, pease post here, or send me an e-mail.
It may be worth posting on the northamericanmotoring forum, especially in the Southern California area, and see if people would be willing to mail theirs to you (you can offer to send a postage paid envelope)..
Will you be driving back at night, or staying overnight in Indy? If drivign back that night, what is the exepcted departure time?
I am heading back that night, but I don’t have any plans yet for time. I will just see what is happening, and how I feel.
I have 2 extra wrist bands. I had planned to drive the St. Louis to Indy, but will only be driving the Indy to WV route. Contact me if you need the bands.

I am looking for 2 MTTS wrist bands for the Indianapolis Speedway for Aug 30. I am willing to purchase if anyone has extras.
Thank you,
Rob Jordan

For anyone who is interested, I found this PDF map of the Illinois Tollway System. I believe the oasis we are meeting at is the “Lincoln Oasis” in South Holland/Thorton Illinois which is on I-294/I-80 just West of where I-294/I-80 and I-94 intersect.

MTTS WRISTBANDS! MY WORLD FOR TWO WRISTBANDS!!!!!!
I inadvertantly forget to register for the INDY event and find myself without the two wristbands I’m in need of for my guest and myself. Can anyone be of assistance? Please email me at: ucanhavmycake1@aol.com or email my friend Michael at: ShavedNShiny@aol.com
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Dennis
Folks – you no longer need wristbands to attend the events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the 30th! Here are the details from the Indiana Mini Club forum (linkage below)
We been informed that you do not have to be registered for MTTS to participate in the fun at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the 30th. Your ticket in is your MINI and your donation. (No MINI no Ticky ) The Yellow shirts at the track have been instructed to admit only MINI’s. You need to enter through the main gate on 16th Street that you would normally enter to go to the museum.
Officially the event is from 2PM to 6PM but you should be inside the track no later than 5PM if you want to take the lap on the famous oval. There will be lots to do if you are there earlier but be advised you must be back in your car with the motor running at 5:30 to participate in the historic parade lap at the Brickyard.

Hope to see everyone there. I’ll be doing my best Little Al Unser impression (no, not drunk & disorderly out on I-465!)
Mike
Further info – the donation mentioned is $10 and is going to charity.
Mike
That was FUN!!!
CMMC Mug n’ Buggers Rules!!!
btw, thanks for the wristband Steve.
