US Grand Prix Events

For those MINI owners attending the US Grand Prix in Indianapolis on June 20th there are several events brought to you by the MINI Car Club of Indiana you won't want to miss. Personally I'll be heading down with a friend sometime around 9:00 am Saturday morning from Chicago. If anyone else is interested in joining us for the trip let me know!

Here is some detailed information on the happenings:

The Car Corral
The car corral will be located on the backstretch of the oval again this year. You must have a grandstand ticket (cheapest is 75.00) or you can get a 3 day general admission pass for 60.00 (single race day GA tickets are not avail). You must also have a parking pass for the corral. To obtain the parking pass you need to call the IMS ticket office and identify yourself as a MINI car club member and tell them you would like to participate in the car corral. You will need your IMS ticket account number when you call. The ticket office number is 800-822-4639.

You must be driving your MINI with the parking pass to get into the corral!

Downtown Cruise Friday Evening
There will be a cruise of downtown Indianapolis. To qualify to do the cruise there must be a minimum of 20 MINIs and there is a max of 50. The tentative day/time is Friday at 7:45PM. You will need to RSVP for the cruise by 5/20/04. NOTE:We can still get in on same day and time and join some Corvettes without meeting the 20 car.

Saturday Evening
The MINI Car Club of Indiana (MINICCI) will be hosting a gathering. Place is to be determined. This should be finalized by the end of the month. No RSVP needed.

Race Day
There will be a police escort into the track again this year. You must RSVP for this. The time for this has not been determined yet. The meeting place and time for this will be announced closer to race day.

Fan Appreciation
There will be a fan appreciation day on Monday June 21, 2004. You have to purchase your ticket for the 2005 race that day to be able to drive 1 lap on the F1 race circuit. The lap is at a paced speed following a track vehicle.

Any RSVPs or questions can be emailed to me at .

  1. Anita and I are driving down the morning of the race. I will make the call about the corral.

Has anyone parked there in past years??

  2. I was there at the Corral last year.
It would be nice if you arrive early at the police escort designated area in the Indy Zoo parking lot where the MINI's will gather at about 7:30 am Sunday before they go to the track using the police escort ( which is cool IMHO). In case you cannot make it—I think you can go directly to the corral which is at the north side of the track—just do not forgot to show your pass & ticket. Hope this helps.
