Starved Rock (11/05)

WRAPUP: Fantastic fall weather, lots of MINIs and a great drive.. what could be better!!  Almost 40 MINIs of all kinds and colors.. Countryman, Clubman, Coupes, Convertibles,  Coopers and Cooper S, Gen 1, Gen2.. we had them all.  Lots of new people on their first club drive, and many who have been on all the prior Starved Rock drives. Huge thanks to Paul and Barbara who planned a great route on some beautiful roads.

It’s fall and once again it is time to take our annual MINI drive out to Starved Rock State park.   This event has been a club favorite since 2004..  The route is a little different every year, but always fun.

Info update 10/23/2011..

People can break for lunch at the park itself.. There are a couple dining areas at the lodge.  Some people have been kicking around the idea of having a BYO BBQ on the grounds.  Let us know if you would be interested!!

WHAT: An all day drive on some fun twisty back roads ending with a visit to a beautiful state park

WHEN: Saturday November 5th  Morning departure time 10am.

WHERE:  Start in the south parking lot of the Jewel in Sugar Grove IL (Corner of Rt. 47 & E. Galena Blvd.).  Departure is at 10am. Ending destination is Starved Rock State park in Utica Ill.

LUNCH:  This year we will just do lunch on your own at the park

WHO: Chicago MINI Motoring Club members, other area MINI (and Mini) clubs,  and anyone potentially interested in the club

WHY: Just for fun!!

WHAT TO BRING: A full tank of gas, optional FRS radio tuned to channel 1, sub Channel 1, appropriate clothing for being outside at the park, money for lunch at the park (or possibly cookout food/equipment), a camera, and a smile!!

  3. We will not be able to make this favorite event. We will be out of town that weekend but we are planning on the holiday party in December!!!

  7. Depending on if I feel ok in the morning ( I have a bad cold and I am the only driver), I will be coming with my two kids, Eric and Allie. Eric will bring his friend Damian along for the ride, so that makes 4 of us. We hope to BBQ as well. Sure hope I’m feeling good and we all see you there. Looking forward to it!

    A really special Thank You to Paul and Barbara for yet another flawless, fun, fantastic route. Wow, what a great day.

    Awesome turnout. My last count was 36 Mini’s,could be more.
    Great to see all the new faces too. Hope you all had as good of a time as Lena and myself. Pics coming soon, probably to facebook.

    Huge thanks to Paul and Barbara for putting together a fantastic drive. It was nice to see so many new people out for their first club drive. I wish I had more time to hang out and visit with everyone.
