July 4th Parade

WRAPUP: Eight MINIs (and one radio controlled Mini) came out and wowed the Skokie parade crowds. The weather was great, and excitement levels were high!!

Dress your MINI up and participate in a July 4th Parade!!
Where: Staging area is in the Oakton Community College parking lot 7701 Lincoln Ave, Skokie
When: Wednesday July 4th rain or shine.. Staging and check-in 10:30, Parade starts at Noon
Who: All MINIs or Minis. We have planned for about 15 cars. If we have a lot more, we need to notify the parade organizers, so please post up if you are interested.
What: Shine up or decorate your car (plenty of time to get ready in the staging area). The route will proceed north on Lincoln to Oakton and west just past Oakton Park
Here are a few of the rules from the parade organizers:
Horns, sirens, speakers, microphones will not be allowed
Breakdowns.. If your car breaks down, please move to the right hand side of the road and wait for assistance
No throwouts!! Due to insurance regulations, throw outs will not be allowed from moving vehicles. All violators will be foirced to leave the parade and not be invited back the following year. Please obey this rule.

Pretty sure it is the main parking lot. I expect it will be easy to find when we get there (the place with lots of people, marching bands, floats, and confusion)

Hey Steve or anyone in that area, is there a touchless car wash near by that I can stop at on the way there?

Here is a link to several car washes in the area. I have never been to any, so I don’t know who is good or bad.
Weather is looking like it may rain on our parade, but the organizers say they will hold the parade except for severe weather..

Thanks Steve, I bet the weather holds till afternoon evening. Cool AM, then hot PM is the mix needed for rain. Yes I’m a weather geek.

Gary and I are back from MME. Great time. Wonderful cars, wonderful people, and sooooo much fun. Rest day at home today and I think we will make the parade this year. hmmm which car to take? Any suggestions HAHA!

8am July 4th update.
We still have room for 6 more MINI’s. Rain moved out late last night, should be dry. Hope to see six more MINI’s around 1030 today.

Thanks for making the arrangments Steve! We had a good time again! At least we didn’t have to wake up so early this year!! Good to see everyone again! Looks like half the group was at the parade last year also.
Love the new rims Marco! btw… the guy with the bike & sidecar is my dentist.. great guy!
Sorry we bailed on Super Dawg.. we needed a place with A/C (we went to dengeos)

Great day! Thanks Steve. Hey Francis Super Dawgs had air. Dengeo’s is great. That is one of my favorite spots. Adam and Marco, I like the new wheels! Nice seeing everyone.
