Detailing Seminar June 25th

WRAPUP: A beautiful day brought out about a dozen people or the Seminar.  We learned that diferent types of scratches required different techniques, and to use the technique that causes the least amount of wear on the clear coat to get the job done.  We are able to practice using claybar and hand polishes, and also use an orbital polisher to take deeper scratches out of a practice hood.  Afterwards we were treated to burgers and brats and we were even given a goody bag with some sample products.

Huge thanks to Jim and his crew at Dr. Beasley’s for spending the session demonstrating techniques and answering all our questions, and to Greg and his Smartbox crew for hosting the event and providing and cooking up all the great food for us!!!

Lots of people have questions about how to best keep your MINI looking like new, and we are going to have the answers..

Jim Lafeber, from Simon’s Shine Shop and Dr. Beasley’s detailing products has offered to present a detailing clinic for our club.  You will learn how to safely and correctly polish your car, and have all your cleaning and detailing questions answered.  There will even be some hands on time with a polishing machine on a practice hood!!

Because Jim’s shop is a very busy place on weekends, former CMMC member Greg Kaufman has stepped up and offered the use of his Smartbox warehouse location to host the seminar, and we will even have a bit of grilling afterwards!!

Here are the details..

  1. I’m thinking of heading over to Melrose Park Grand Prix for a bit of indoor kart racing after this event since we are in the area..
The Chicago MINI Motoring Club gets a great discount, 3 races for $20. Anyone care to join me?

  2. Is there anything we could bring?

Besides a couple of chairs for yourselves, I think we are good.

If you have any specific detailing questions ahead of time feel free to post them here so we can be sure to have some answers for you..

  3. I’ll be there and staying for eats. I’ve never had the interior of my MINI detailed. I’d be interested in recommendations for cleaning my cordoba beige leather seats.

  4. Hi everyone. If it’s still OK to RSVP so late; my wife Jenni and I will try to attend this event. We’re new Mini owners and this will be our fist Mini event as owners. We’re excited to meet other local Mini enthusiasts.
