July 4th Parade

WRAPUP:  Perfect weather for the half dozen MINIs that participated in this years parade.  The crowd was large and enthusiastic with lots of children looking for candy.  The MINIs were a crowd favorite getting lots of attention.  A good time was had by all, except when the radio control MINI leading the field accidentally ran over the pile of horse poop..

WHEN: Monday July 4th.  Plan to arrive before 9am to line up in our staging area.  The parade starts at 10am.

WHO: Anyone with a MINI or Mini is welcome to join in.  It is not required to decorate your car, but it is more fun to do so, and please make sure it is clean enough to display on the parade.

WHY:  Just for fun!!  Decorate your MINI, and bring along some candy to toss to the kids

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:   Here is some additional information from the parade organizer..

Parade participants will need to be at 51st Avenue and 95th Street on 9:00AM , Monday, July 4.
The parade will kick off at 10:00 AM sharp. The parade route will begin westbound on the center
line of 95th Street and proceed to 55th Ct. We strongly encourage parade participants to bring candy
to toss to spectators along the route but ask that you please be careful when tossing candy – please
try to get it toward the curb for safety reasons. Both sides of 95th Street will be closed during our
event.

If you are operating a vehicle in the parade, you must exercise extreme caution and abide by all the
“rules of the road” for the safety of both parade participants and spectators. Any “ticketable”
offense that can be written based on current laws apply, and anyone violating those laws will be
ticketed.

Due to street closures and set up, if you have a vehicle in the parade and your space number is between
1-45 you should enter at 94th and 51st Avenue. If your space number is between 46-91 you should enter
at Southwest Highway and 51st Avenue. If your vehicle is not in the parade, you may drop off marchers
at the 51st Avenue checkpoint and then take 94th Street to Sproat Avenue and proceed south to the Metra
lot OR park in the Metra lot and walk one half block (west) to 51st Avenue with your group.

Groups should familiarize themselves with the groups before and after in the lineup to help parade
officials step the groups off in order.

The majority of entries received asked to be placed at the front of the Parade. While we consider all
requests and attempt to accommodate each group accordingly, we must also focus on organizing a well
varied and entertaining event. Therefore, Parade order and lineup is final. Please DO NOT step-off
from your assigned location until the groups staged before you have moved.
Please have one person from your group check in at the information booth to receive your assigned
space.
Please follow the instructions given by the parade coordinator and volunteers. Remember to bring
water and wear sunscreen. There will be a port-a-john on site.
Please be considerate of other parade participants and to the residents and businesses along the parade
route.

The village is NOT responsible for articles/items left unattended.
