Auto Show February 12th

WRAPUP:  We had a big crowd of MINI fans attend from as far away as Madison Wi.   After a nice but chilly group drive on  a pothole riddled Sheridan Road and Lake Shore Drive, we all congregated and hung out at the MINI exhibit, and then on to the rest of the show.  Huge thanks again to MINIUSA and Knauz MINI for helping our club out with the tickets and making arrangements to get us into the show early!

Kart Racing 01/30

WRAPUP:  22 participants came out to enjoy some intense racing.  We had a few new people and a bunch of regulars were broken up into two groups.  There were some thrills, chills, bumping and grinding, and a few short tanks of fuel, but we got a bonus longer race at the end to make up for it.  A fun time was had by all.  Fast lap time of the day goes to Steve R. at 22.76 closely followed by Ken E. at 22.82.

2010 Holiday Party

WRAPUP: Another great party to end the 2010 MINI season.  Lots of good food and great company.  The weather was not great, but not as terrible as expected.  We had a few raffle prizes to give away from MINIUSA, Chris, Rose,  and Francis.  Huge thanks to Taylor for being such a gracious host, and for all who attended to make the day so much fun!!

MINIUSA hangout 11/23

WRAPUP: WOW!!  MINIUSA pulled out all the stops for a fantastic evening.  We had a mingle time with food, drinks, fruit and cheese, and fabulous deserts in the main reception area  followed by a short talk by MINI execs.  We were then shown a preview of a new Countryman commercial, and an unveiling of the car.  We were able to get up close and personal with the new Countryman and everyone got MINI framed photographs.  We even got a nice little MINI goody bag at the end of the evening.  Huge thanks to Broderick and Michelle and the rest of the MINI and BMW crew for treating our club to such a wonderfull evening.

Starved Rock October 24th

WRAPUP:  The anticipated bad weather held off except for about 5 minutes of rain, and we enjoyed a warm mostly sunny day of motoring on some wonderful back roads.  A large crowd of 33 MINIs and almost 60 people came out for an all day drive, some from far-away and exotic places like southern Wisconsin, Indiana, and Champaign.   We had a long first part of the drive from Schaumburg to the lunch stop in Morris, and half of the group got to experience the now famous Ashley road, while the other half opted to blast past the turn and take the more direct route in 😉  After a group lunch and a bit of hangout time we piled back in our cars and took the quieter back roads out to Starved Rock.  Traffic was mostly light, except for some slow moving vehicles in the tightest of turns.  The park was a bit less crowded than usual, and many people hung around a while and took a short hike up the “rock”.  Huge thanks to Gary for his help putting this years route together, and pre-driving the course.
