Starved Rock (10/26)

WRAPUP:  Almost 40 cars and over 70 people participated in the best Starved Rock event yet.  We had participants from as far away as Wisconsin and Peoria including many new people, and lots of old MINI friends.  The day started out sunny and warm-ish but got much colder and more blustery as the day progressed.  A mid-point lunch spot provided a nice break and a chance to socialize.  The second leg backroad route took us past cornfields and more than a few twisty bits.  There was a bit of dodging and weaving around fallen branches from the high winds that passed through.  Several people braved the weather at the park and took the trek up to the summit of Starved Rock.

Huge thanks to Dustin Krause from Bill Jacobs MINI for opening up on a Sunday, and providing the Donuts and meeting spot.  Thanks also to the many people who helped to make this another home run caliber event including Cathy and Gary, Conrad, Kevin and Arnie!!

Please send links to pictures (but not actual pictures) to steve@chicagominiclub.com and I will post them here to share.

Baseball Meetup (09/28)

WRAPUP:  Over 100 Milwaukee and Chicago club members met for a fantastic baseball event!!  20-somthing MINIs met early in the morning at Knauz MINI for some coffee, donuts, bagels and hanging out time.  We then headed up the expressway to meet up with the MilwaukeeMINIs.  We all took a short drive, and got into Miller Stadium parking area more or less together for a really great catered cookout or grilling on our own.  After that we headed in to the park to watch the game.  One club member snagged a foul ball, and one caught a flying cell phone from the balcony above us.  Final score, the MilwaukeeMINIs and Chicago MINI Motoring Club won (as did the Brewers).

Huge thanks to Theresa for all the planning, as well as purchasing the tickets way back in March so we could have this event, and Knauz MINI for opening up on a Sunday and bringing in the food!!

If anyone has pictures of the game, please send a link (but not the actual photos) to steve@chicagominiclub.com and I will put them here..

Events

Here is a little recap of stuff we have coming up…

Our Club Events Coordinator Jeff is working out details for a Milwaukee/Chicago club meetup to drive in for the Friday night portion of MINI Takes the States on July 25th as well as additional information for our Drive-in event on August 16th.

The next Portillos get-together in Schaumburg is on July 2nd.

We still have about 10 or so spots open to participate in the July 4th Parade in Oak Lawn. If you are planning on attending, you need to add a comment to the post.

There are also still tickets remaining for tailgating and a Cubs/Brewers game in Milwaukee on September 28th. This is the final game of the regular season and this really could be the year, so you don’t want to miss this…
